Bäckahästen or the brook horse is a treacherous predator that lurks in streams and lakes, where he tries to entice passing horses and riders into the water to drown them. The brook horse appears as a proud stallion, often shimmering white, but it can also be dapple grey, black, or even shades of blue. If you get really close, however, you will realise that this is no ordinary horse, because its mouth is full of pointed, razor-sharp teeth. In most respects its behaviour is similar to the Neck’s and many believe the brook horse is actually the Neck in disguise.
The illustration is from the book Vaesen.
